Three tries to network for business this week.. 1st one – timed out on making it there in time

2nd one.. just drove out to location, it was dark and nobody home:(

So, the other night I was determined. It was a meet up and didn’t really know what the format of a meetup might be..didn’t read the whole description, just liked what it said.. . it was for people in midlife, and hey, that’s me:)

i love the concept. The people were great. Quickly after I got there, a different energy, not talking about “what you do”, business card exchange. It was more stay awhile, come and have dinner,it seemed like maybe everyone was single. I told the organizer, so sorry i had to leave, i didn’t know how these things ran. The networking ‘things’ where you come and go. She said, oh stay!

I said “I didn’t know the format and I told my husband I would be home in a bit, we were going out”.

She said, “oh you have a husband?, this is a singles group”

We laughed, she was gracious…

Gave me a giggle:) next time, i will keep reading. Came home and read again ~ the single part was in the second paragraph

Yesterday during one of those nights that I wasn’t “falling” asleep,

I realized it was 55 days till i was going to turn 55.

Holy Cow — how and when did that happen. I know that is what

we say all the time about time. It passes in a flash.

I have long known and been acutely aware of how precious time is.

I am not so crazy about being 55. For some reason, I actually looked

forward to 50 (the aarp magazine is pretty good) however, 55 feels alot different.

I have always wanted to blog/write daily relating to well, lots of things.

I always hear people say as they get older they don’t think so much of

what other people will think, but that they do things for themselves.

So, here goes I am going to go at writing till 55. I am going to go for writing

daily, but it may just be that i am going to post/blog 55 posts/notes or

whatever form it is they might take. Maybe, I am just pretending I am

Julie in “Julie and Julia” – but I am not exactly a cook, so will just see what

takes place here. To be sure part of this will probably be the joy or

giggle I find in my everyday.

I am kind of excited now. It is an on the way to 55 adventure:)

fine print: ran into some technical difficulties in posting this so

it is going in a day later – it will all work out:)

Also, have to say .. the whole public sharing of your thoughts..

What happened to not wanting anyone to read your diary?

Hello, World !!
With the Winter Olympics and Paralympics approaching in Vancouver–
March 2010. Â It brings back fond memories of Paralympics 2004. Â The
Paralympics
features elite athletes with physical disabilities. It follows
directly after the Olympics in the same Venue – same locations,
facilities and set ups.
I had the wonderful privilege of being part of the Athens Sports
Massage Team, spending three weeks in Athens, Greece in the fall of
2004… HOW cool is that!!

Serving at the Paralympic Village, I worked with athletes from all
over the world that were staying at the village. Â These athletes would
come for massage sessions both pre-event and post-events.
I had many life lessons. Â Here is one of my stand outs:
I was struck by the thought: What are they doing here? How did they get here?
Didn’t anyone tell them they couldn’t do this?
They are not equipped to do this. They are too “old, too big, too
small, couldn’t see, hear, missing limbs”. Â They were all ages, stages
and sizes.
I kept thinking their limitations might have been more obvious; but
what are my limitations? What is keeping me from moving forward?
What am I not overcoming, pursuing limiting me from reaching my
lifetime possibilities? This is still a question I keep fresh to help
me move forward.

It was a”once in a lifetime experience”. I am thankful:)
